Not So Super

This year's Super Bowl was by far one of the most exciting with last minute plays that could not have been scripted any better. I wish I could say the same for the commercials.

There were a few that were worthy. I loved the Bridgestone Mr. Potato Head, the boys love the Talking Babies on E*Trade and we got a big laugh with the new twist on the Coke Zero Ad with Troy Polamalu. The Doritos crystal ball, Dog Adoption PSA and Conan O'Brian ads also made us smile.

You're Not My Daddy!
One of the most irritating to me is the GoDaddy T&A commercials. Apparently I must be in the minority because the headlines proclaim these sexist ads to be a success. I understand that sex sells and that the Super Bowl advertisers are targeting a testosterone and beer fueled crowd. I just don't understand what women flashing their cleavage has to do with buying domain names or web products.

I may be in the minority here, but when a consultant suggested I use GoDaddy to purchase web-hosting products a few years back, I refused because of their commercials featuring the GoDaddy girls. This year's GoDaddy Ads are just as annoying.

What do you think about these ads?

And how are you voting with your pocketbook???

You must be fly on the wall in my home. We had almost that exact conversation during the Super Bowl. We enjoyed many of the ads, but GoDaddy-as usual-crossed the line. I certainly won't use them, but also don't have any reason to.

I found most of the ads fairly meh. The Go Daddy ads are as I expected from them. I've used Go Daddy in the past, they are a lot cheaper then most and get the job done. I guess for me, cheaper wins.

I always watch the superbowl for their commercials but this year, Carson (my two year old) and I fell asleep before the first quarter was even over. I did catch the potato head tire commercial. When she lost her mouth and changed her eyes, I laughed so hard. Very cute.

One thing I didn't really mention but probably should have, the football game this year was far better then commercials. It was actually a nail biter and frankly a good game. Thank you. That is all.

Due to the channel surfers in our house, I missed a lot of the commercials. I did get a huge laugh out of the Denny's (?) commercial where the group of mob guys are having breakfast and trying to have a very serious conversation while the waitress makes a smiley face out of whipped cream on the guy's pancakes.

But I still won't eat at Denny's.

I totally agree with you. Some of these commercials don't make sense and use sex gratuituously. It's sad because the SuperBowl is a family affair, but now you have to watch out for moments when you have to cover your children's eyes when these commercials pop up.

Sorry I'm a guy and I enjoyed the commercials for Go Daddy (there were two).

I also enjoyed the Dorritos ad where the guy ate the chips and money came out of the ATM, the cop turned into a monkey, and the woman's clothing dropped and she was in her "undergarments."

Again, I'm a guy...

We had the same discussion. The commercials are not what they used to be, that's for sure!
